Spent most of the weekend at the kennel. Oliver and Emmy were a little upset when I told them I needed to go home now 😂
It's the best time of year again 🤩
Fall training has been a blast so far this season! We're supposed to get a big dump of snow next week so hopefully we'll be able to get on sleds early this year!
Musher meeting and bib draw last night. I drew number 7 so I'll be leaving the chute at 12:14 today! It was really awesome to see the turn out for the race after a three year hiatus. I am so excited to hit the trail and have the chance to learn from some incredible veteran mushers, our race marshal and judges, the veterinary team, as well as the other rookies! If all goes well this will be my first Iditarod qualifier!
The light is slowly making a return to Pleasant Valley. It felt so good to run in real daylight rather than just twilight yesterday. It certainly helped me feel better about it being -30 😂
Alright y'all its happening! Thanks to an incredibly generous donor, my entry fee has been covered and I am signed up for the Two Rivers 200! If all goes well this will be my first Iditarod qualifier! If anyone is interested in helping cover other race related expenses please visit www.persistencemushing.com/jointheteam Thank you so much for all your love and support!
I don't think we've ever done dog chores quite as fast as we did tonight 😂
Shawn got a great video of us leaving the yard yesterday for our big run! Happy, excited puppies! @ataokennel
Scenes like this make it all feel like a dream
A couple new stanchions, new cross bar, all new lines, fresh handlebar tape & Steve is ready to hit the trail! There's a few more improvements I'm planning to make before the Two Rivers 200 but this is a solid start! I can't wait to try it out tomorrow w/ Shawn & @ataokennel
Big things are happening! After about 5 (6?) seasons of using @ataokennel 's spare sled I finally have my own! It's a little bit of a fixer-upper but should be good to go for the Solstice Invitational next weekend after Pepper finishes inspecting.
Ten days until our first race of the season, the Solstice Invitational! 72 days until my first Iditarod qualifier races the Two Rivers 200! If you'd like to help the team and I achieve these goals you can visit https://www.persistencemushing.com/jointheteam There are several different ways you can help out. Additionally, 10% of all the funds I raise will be donated to colorectal cancer research in support of a very dear friend. Any and all support is deeply appreciated!
